“Coffee is one of the few products involving nature, people, machines and technology in any stage of its production, as well as sensory communication. A day without coffee would be an empty world!”

The Coffee Culture in Mexico: A Legacy Rich in Flavors

As you may know, Mexico’s coffee culture is an integral part of the country’s social, cultural and economic life. Between volcanic highlands and lush green forests, Mexico’s farmers nurture a passion for specialty Arabica coffees that are internationally renowned for their outstanding characteristics. At Mystique Coffee, a Montreal-based company founded in 1998, we are proud to bring you coffee beans from this vibrant country, grown with the utmost care for the environment and local communities.

At Mystique Coffee, our mission is clear: to become one of Canada’s leading importers, roasters and distributors of specialty coffees. As such, we are committed to offering the finest Arabica coffees, grown at altitudes above 1,200 meters and meticulously hand-picked. In doing so, we ensure that each cup reflects the flavors and subtleties specific to each Mexican terroir, while supporting sustainable and fair agricultural practices.

Coffee from Mexico is characterized by its aromatic complexity and diversity, the result of a harmonious combination of fertile land and the ancestral know-how of its growers. The latter, often grouped in cooperatives, pass on the centuries-old secrets of sustainable farming practices from one generation to the next. While the quota crisis and fluctuating world prices have created many challenges, they have also stimulated innovation and the development of more sustainable solutions. As a result, practices such as organic farming and fair trade have taken on greater importance, not only ensuring the highest quality coffee, but also improving the well-being of the communities that produce it.

While the crisis of the quota system and the volatility of global prices have created many challenges, they have also stimulated innovation and the search for sustainable solutions. As such, practices such as organic farming and fair trade have grown in importance, ensuring not only the highest quality coffee, but also the well-being of the producing communities.

At Mystique Coffee, we hold these principles in high regard. That’s why our coffee beans are Fair Trade Certified by Fairtrade Canada. This certification is a guarantee of safe working conditions, fair compensation for farmers and the preservation of biodiversity. We strive to reflect this in the products we offer.

  • We offer three types of coffee, available as whole beans or ground, from the Oaxaca region of Mexico: Mexico Light (a light roast), Mexico Dark (a dark roast), and Mexico Decaf (a medium roast).
  • As for our decaffeinated “Mexico Decaf” option, it offers the same richness of flavor, without the caffeine.
